Italian Style and Japanese Precision Create Affordable Luxury watches
One of the best things about the job of a luxury watch blogger is the amazing amount of material to work with and the truly exciting people and brands that jump out at you on a regular basis. Chotovelli and Sons are one of a growing number of passionate watch makers working hard to bring us luxury at great prices
Chotovelli and Sons Hit the Spot
It's so easy to stick with the well known brands and there's no way I am suggesting this shouldn't be the case, but I do think it's worthwhile looking at the smaller players in this space. I have always championed the smaller companies like Bremote and Christopher Ward for their services to precision engineering at affordable prices without discounts. With the same excitement I'd like to talk to you about a jewel of a watchmaker that I've just uncovered, you know them as Chotovelli and Sons.
Chotovelli Price and Quality
Chotovelli and Sons design and build a compelling range that includes Aviator Pilot, Military Aviation, Big Pilot, Dashboard Pilot, and Vintage Pilot which all exhibit similar properties of bold, sturdy unique designs and premium quality. With so many great deals the best way to approach this would be to offer you my thoughts on a particular favorite of mine and tell why I love the piece so much. For this I choose the Big Pilot watch / Jets 747-12 priced at $475.00. This is one of the more expensive pieces in the range that varies between $350 to $490, making the whole collection affordable for everyone who appreciates high quality timepieces and unique design without need a massive budget.
Big Pilot watch / Jets 747-12
The Big Pilot watch / Jets 747-12 are designed to give a firm nod to the watches worn by pilots in the mid-1940s. The case is a large 50mm encasing the Japanese movement featuring hour minutes and seconds with an additional two sub dials offering chronograph seconds and minutes at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock respectively operated by external pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 clock, with the date window is set at 3 o’clock.
The dial is jet black surrounded by the smooth steel bezel and over sized crown at 3 o’clock giving it a look of purpose. The dial and the markers are nicely presented with a mix of silver tone Arabic markers and stick markers together with smaller minute stick markers against sturdy hour and minute hands in silver tone. The chronograph hands and small but brightly colored in a vibrant red.
In all, this piece offers a retro design with sturdy look and feel while giving clean lines and great readability at a glance together with modern reliability secured soften thick calfskin velvet calfskin leather strap.

A low low price
The low price of this range could put some off if they considered it too cheap, but there's a reason the collection can be designed, built, and sold at such keen prices and that's thanks to one of the most widely used and trusted 3rd party movements on the market. The incomparable Japanese made Miyota Quartz brought to you by the Citizen Watch Company of Japan.
The advanced production techniques together good quality materials and mass production abilities mean these top quality, highly engineered , reliable movements can be manufactured to high tolerances at a fraction of the cost of a Swiss Made movement for example.
You’re here reading my opinion on Chotovelli and Sons and you’ve no doubt looked through their site so you know what I’m saying about the collection is true. This is the full package offering great design, build quality, and precision engineering at the best prices around. For my money, if you are interested in good quality at affordable prices this collection is a real opinion. If on the other hand you are more interested in Swiss brand names this may not float your boat, but in that case, I hope you have plenty on cash to splash.
